Overview
Top Tier AmLaw 100 firm is seeking a lawyer with discovery experience for a Senior Discovery Attorney role. The Senior Discovery Attorney role will have two primary areas of responsibility: first to provide legal counsel in the area of eDiscovery and litigation consulting services to case teams, clients, and firm management and second to manage the firm’s Practice Support Department, including operational responsibility for a team of analysts (3) and project managers (2). This role is 50% tactical (practicing law), 30% operational (managing the Practice Support team), and 20% strategic (creating and implementing a vision for the Practice Support Department). This person will be reporting to the Chairs of the eDiscovery Practice Group.

Responsibilities:
Strategic: 20%
- Assesses firm’s current state of the Practice Support Group
(including people, process and technology) and determine future state
plan
- Creates roadmap to implement future state vision, and implements business
plan
- Participates with co-chairs of eDiscovery Practice Group in ongoing
vision for Practice Support Department and eDiscovery Practice Group
Operational: 30%
- Responsible for managing Practice Support Group, including 2 PMs and 3
analysts
- Responsible for supervising junior attorneys in EDPG group (8 attorneys
in the group total)
- Responsible for managing outside vendors and LPOs
- Responsible for interfacing with IT re PSG needs
- Participates in business development efforts by supporting pitches to
clients
- Evangelizes PSG and EDPG to firm case teams and clients
Tactical: 50%
- Provides legal counsel to case teams on clients’ discovery matters,
including:
- Advising on identification, preservation and collection
methodologies
- Ensuring chain of custody is properly established and followed to
prevent spoliation of evidence
- Planning discovery protocols and procedures as a part of overall
case
- Preparation for and participation in “meet and confer”
meetings
- Supervision and oversight of 30(b)(6) witness preparations
- Preparation of relevant motions and memorandum necessary for
discovery practice as a part of a case as necessary
- Creation of review “playbook” and strategy
- Oversight of review process, review teams, and managing to outcome
for production and review
- Oversee review of opposing counsels productions and the
identification of evidence
- Serves as National Discovery Counsel to firm clients
- Advises clients on information governance and records management policies
and programs, as necessary
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor
- Licensed to practice law in New York State
- Experience interfacing with case teams and clients as legal counsel, as
well as experience managing a litigation support department
